Political Budget Not Touch the Poor

Political budget is judged not applied for pro-poor. Members of parliament, Arif Budimanta, said in the last 5 years the state budget has increased up to fourfold. However, even if no budget increase to 400 percent, the poverty rate as the road in places.

"In 1996, the poverty rate reached 11.3 percent. In 2010, the poverty rate reached 13.3 percent, or only down 2 percent within 14 years, "he said during a visit to Republika, Friday (26 / 5).

He sees budget politics have not been designed to alleviate poverty. For example, citing World Bank data, in 2009, the budget functions of social protection in Indonesia only enjoyed 10 percent of the poor. Why is that, due to pay the debt only, the government should provide funds to Rp. 115 209 trillion per year, while the budget allocation for social protection is only Rp. 4585 trillion per year. "Budget of social protection is only 1 / 25 of the cost of government debt interest," he said.
