Akbar Tanjung: For Effective Government, Political Parties Self-Six

Advisory Council Chairman Akbar Tandjung Golkar Party said that to run an effective presidential system should reduced the number of political parties and the party's Islamic ideology is two because the amount was already represent the Muslims. "The six parties have enough for a presidential system runs effectively. With this amount, the parties will be more simple so that the rule will be effective," said Akbar in
discussion on "Political Parties and Democratic Consolidation in DPP PPP, in Jakarta, Friday (27 / 5).

As for the electoral system, the former chairman of the Golkar Party is offering systems with emphasis on regional election districts. "We have 77 electoral districts are still too few for an electoral district can be represented by three to 12 members of the House. By increasing the constituency, the party believed to be more simple. The system also will produce candidates who are closer to constituents," he said, saying members of the chosen course will provide many roles to constituents.

Akbar also suggested that the politicians do not form a new party to accommodate the legislative candidates who get the vote quota. "Not because of any provision of the parliamentary threshold of legislative candidates because political parties did not enter the House of Representatives failed to pass the threshold of parliament," said Akbar.

In the same place, the Vice Chairman of the House Pramono Anung agree with Akbar about the proposed simplification of the party, but he did not agree if the prospective members of Parliament who entered through a political party that does not pass the PT, can stay in accommodation in the Parliament.

"This will make the parties who have entered the PT, will refuse," he said. But, he added, better facilitate the recruitment of cadres of political parties, especially to potential volunteers.
