Din Syamsudin: Leaving Government NII

The rise of religious movements such as Negara Islam Indonesia (NII) is later due to the omission by the government. The government should take firm action against perpetrators of movement because of the tendency of criminals such as stealing, cheating, and robbing had long occurred.
However, the government is expected to remain reasonable with no legitimate issue for the interpenetration of intelligence to the affairs of religious excess. This was conveyed by the Central Executive Chairman of Muhammadiyah, Din Syamsuddin in Banda Aceh on Sunday (05/01/2011).
According to Din, NII activity through brain washing, ordering his followers to steal, rob, do not get this for decisive action from law enforcement. In fact, the NII is clearly aimed at establishing a state. It marks the NII is an organization of treason.
"What is happening is the omission. In fact, tend to be maintained. Now the new government's moves, which actually delayed because the victim had enough. In fact, the NII has been there since long time, circa the 1990s," he said.
In Islam, he added, establishing an Islamic state is not everything. The purpose of Islam is the formation of religious communities. State is only a means for the creation of the religious community.
"Therefore, we are always pushing for the state always acted correctly. Apply Pancasila well," he said.
Din also confessed worry, mengemukanya religious issues troubling the people lately, such as NII, terrorism, and the case of Ahmadiyah, be legitimate for governments to implement the Law on Intelligence that allows intelligence to enter the realm of religious excess. If that happens, it will be very vulnerable to human rights violations, especially in religion.
"I have not read the intelligence bill. But, there might now condition was used for that purpose (to pass the bill Intelligence). The government must remain proportionate," he said.
Issues such as the NII and the Ahmadis, said Din, the government should be resolved long ago. There is a Ministry of Religious Affairs in which there is the guidance that should work to build community. However, the reality is until now no significant steps in coaching.
